The Beatles came to life in REVOLUTION: The Music of The Beatles-A Symphonic Experience. This newly authorized symphonic tribute to the Fab Four featured world class vocalists and musicians accompanied by Grammy-winner Jeff Tyzik's new arrangements transcribed and arranged from the original master recordings at Abbey Road.
The production featured arrangements of over 20 top hits, including Ticket to Ride, Penny Lane, All You Need is Love, Get Back, Here Comes the Sun, Hey Jude, and Twist and Shout. The group got the audience on its feet and dancing in the aisles with three encores!
American Conductor Lawrence Loh led the Symphony Orchestra with a steady beat and a warm casual banter.
Before the main event occurred, OPAS presented an impressive patriotic segment, concluding with Stars and Stripes Forever. "The Voice of The Atlanta Braves" celebrated tenor, Timothy Miller wowed the audience with his booming vocals and operatic stature.
OPAS Artistic Director Doug LaBrecque commented, "I knew audiences would love Timothy's beautiful voice during this portion of the concert. We feel fortunate that he made time in his schedule to share his talent with OPAS. Hearing a Symphony Orchestra playing patriotic music on Memorial Day just cannot be topped.”
The Family-Friendly event occurred at The Farm at Oconee, a bucolic 200 Acre property in Greensboro. Property owner Todd Collins commented “the evening was EPIC.”
People who missed out can look forward to Broadway Sings for OPAS, an orchestral concert featuring the vocals of Phantom of the Opera legend Lisa Vroman. The concert will take place on September 16th at 7:30 PM. Call OPAS at 706-467-6000 for information on tickets or membership.
