OPAS Pop-Up Series Concert Truck Brings Music to Over 1,000 People

The Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) is celebrating the tremendous success of its new Pop-Up Series featuring The Concert Truck, which delighted audiences across Lake Country this past week. In just five performances, the mobile concert stage brought world-class artistry directly into neighborhoods, schools, and community churches, reaching more than 1,000 people.

A student concert at Anita White Carson Middle School, as well as public events at both Christ Our King and Savior Catholic Church (COKAS) and Lake Oconee Presbyterian on Scott Road, were among the highlights, showcasing OPAS’s mission to expand access to the arts. The truck also featured exceptional guest artists alongside renowned pianists Susan Zhang and Kevin Ahfat, creating intimate yet inspiring music evenings under the open sky. Celebrated Georgia Opera star Jasmine Habersham wowed the audience with her pitch-perfect soaring soprano.

“This project represented everything OPAS stands for, bringing world-class artistry directly to our community and making the arts accessible to all,” said Doug LaBrecque, Artistic Director of OPAS.

The excitement continues with Broadway Sings for OPAS: Wickedly Broadway on Sunday, September 21 at 3:00 PM, featuring Talia Suskauer (Elphaba) and Alli Mauzey (Glinda) from Broadway’s Wicked. Audiences will enjoy classics from Wicked, The Lion King, West Side Story, Chicago, Les Misérables, Cabaret, and more.

Following that, OPAS welcomes UPTOWN to Lake Oconee Church. This splashy, Vegas-style showcase features three powerhouse singer-dancers performing hits from Earth, Wind & Fire, Bruno Mars, Stevie Wonder, and Prince. High-energy, dazzling, and “very fun,” UPTOWN promises a night to remember.
