On Sunday, October 10th the Oconee Performing Arts Society (OPAS) presented country music

legend, Crystal Gayle to a packed house at Festival Hall in downtown Greensboro. Joined by

her world class band; Jay Patten, John Kearns, Will Barrow, Duane Norman, Rob Price and her

sister Peggy Sue Wright, Crystal entertained all in attendance with her 90 minute show.

Crystal Gayle has been a favorite of audiences of country and popular music since attaining national prominence with her

first chart records in the mid-seventies. Attendees of her performance at Festival Hall were

treated to a varied collection of musical selections that spanned her 40+ year career and made

Ms. Gayle a household name. These included Don’t it Make My Brown Eyes Blue, Why Have You

Left the One You Left Me For
and Talking in Your Sleep.

Crystal performed a few duets, one with Peggy Sue Wright in a tribute to their sister Loretta

Lynn with Coal Miner’s Daughter as well as another with Jay Patten, Memories are Made of This.

To round out her musical selections for the evening Crystal performed some of her spiritual songs

which included, to the delight of all, I Saw the Light.

Crystal Gayle has released over twenty number one hits and

has been awarded numerous times by the Grammy’s, the Country Music Association, the

American Music Awards and the American Music Operators Association. In 2009 Crystal was

honored to receive her own star on the fabled Hollywood Walk of Fame.

After the show, OPAS Circles Members were treated to a champagne reception with Crystal

and her band backstage where she graciously chatted with each of the attendees and posed

for pictures. After the Meet and Greet, fans also had a chance to meet Crystal and get their

souvenir items autographed and pictures taken.
